Babes-Bolyai University (BBU) is one of the most prestigious higher education institutions from Center-Eastern Europe, being the university with the oldest academic tradition in Romania (1581). It is the largest Romanian university, with 21 faculties, approximately 45.000 students and 3.000 permanent university staff, situated at the confluence of the Eastern and Western cultures. BBU is the leader among the universities in Romania according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) – known as the Shanghai Ranking of universities- the oldest and the most prestigious international ranking of universities considering the indicators of excellence, education, and research. Also, BBU is in the first position in the country, according to other University meta-ranking, such as Center for World University Ranking (CWUR), World Universities Ranking al Times Higher Education (THE-WUR),
University Ranking of Academic Performance (URAP) and US News Best Global Universities. BBU-DPH focuses on scientific and educational activity on the submission and implementation of projects for the research-development-innovation, capacity building and mobility on different subdomains of public health, medicine, and social and economic sciences.

At present, BBU is the coordinator of an Erasmus Mundus project – Special ICT Infrastructure for Smart Place, and partner in the other five Erasmus Mundus projects, proving strong abilities and experience in academic cooperation mechanisms and capacity building projects. BBU offers the first Bachelor program in Public Health taught in English from Romania and Central and Eastern Europe (Department of Public Health). BBU also offers Master Programs in Health Management and Policy and Public Health and is one of the most active research centers in the field of Public Health from Central and Eastern Europe, which provides numerous possibilities of practice in the over 25 research studies that are being implemented. Further, BBU, represented by the Department of Public Health, was a partner in a 2010 TEMPUS program Masters Programmes in Public Health and Social Services (MPPHSS), coordinated by the University of Cumbria and focusing on Eastern European countries.

Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences

The Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP) was created in 1976/77 at the University of Porto and is the school where teaching and research in the fields of Psychology & Education Sciences is carried out. Nowadays nearly 1500 students attend FPCE’s courses (undergraduate, master & doctoral) and over 1200 participants per year come to FPCEUP for their highly reputed continuous education and professional training opportunities. FPCEUP has a significant involvement in education and training in areas such as education, justice, health, central and local public administration, socio-cultural work, corporations, among others. FPCEUP is also very actively engaged in R&D activities mainly through research centres funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology that have been very positively evaluated by international committees. Internationalization plays also an important goal in FPCEUP, not only by the increasing number of projects and protocols established with national and international entities but also by an increasing exchange flow of students, professors, and researchers. For example, the doctoral program of education is an international program in cooperation with the State University of Rio de Janeiro. With almost 30 years of activity, FPCEUP is committed to high level quality education and research and the promotion of an institutional culture that is concerned with well-being and social justice.

Competences Centre on Active and Healthy Ageing

The Competences Centre on Active and Healthy Ageing of U.Porto (Porto4Ageing) holds the mission of promoting, transversally to U.Porto, the quality and multidisciplinary of training, research, development and innovation activities carried out in the field of active and healthy aging. Moreover, Porto4Ageing is a consortium that brings together over 100 organizations, representing different stakeholders – regional governments, health and care providers, academia and research, industry and civil society – and building upon the quadruple helix approach. The Porto4Ageing alliance is committed to promoting local convergence and improving the health innovation ecosystem while reducing and overcoming existing bottlenecks.
It is doing so by promoting joint work for high impact, thus bridging the gap between public and private actions and instruments and, ultimately, facilitating knowledge exchanges and scaling up of results. Porto4Ageing is enrolled in several national and European projects in the field of healthy aging and management of chronic diseases, including SKILLS4ADHERENCE, FAIR4HEALTH, and SHAPES, between others.

Youth Association of Terceira Island – AJITER, is a non-profit institution that was started in April 2003, starting with the essential objective of promoting and strengthening youth associations in the Azorean community, as an innovative way to promote the integration of integration into the community. it is inserted in, and fight against generalized indifference that, at times, is very harmful to our youth.

Since then, there has been a lot of work developed, we have had social and community intervention in the most varied areas of relevance to youth, from education for citizenship, through education for health, prevention of risk behaviour, solidarity, combating social exclusion, sports, promoting access to the new information society, enhancing the historical and cultural heritage of Terceira Island, among many others.

Bildungszentrum Sankt Bernhard is a renowned educational institution with a 45-year history that reflects societal changes from the post-war era to the present. Established in 1973, it distinguished itself by focusing on areas such as the “Third World,” ecology, alternative living, and Franciscan spirituality. The center fostered the formation of self-help groups, initiated “Third World shops,” and offered courses on hospice care.

Its mission was to inspire individuals to advocate for a just world driven by grounded spirituality. The institution expanded its offerings to include personal development, life coaching, culture, creativity, and health. As a state-recognized and supported educational institution, it hosts approximately 12,000 participants annually in about 700 events.

Ecological Future Education (hereinafter – EFE) is a Non-Profit private organisation that has been created to promote a sustainable development mindset in everyday life.
EFE aims to help introduce a new learning and thinking method which would promote environmental awareness as an interesting adventure where everyone participates, thus making the world a better place.

The objective is to inform youth about environmental issues, and daily habit awareness, to improve young people’s skills and competencies concerning green thinking, and to raise social responsibility.

Target groups – social risk groups, young people with destructive problems, adults, and young people. EFE provides training for educators, trainers, and youth workers.

Our main goal is Lifelong Learning promoting – developing of one’s abilities, predispositions, and interests – both in personal and professional life. Based on our international contacts, we are using international good practices in adult learning. We are promoting and supporting vocational and personal development through culture and art (professional as well as unprofessional), active democracy, and educational mobilities in the EU. We work with intergenerational groups, including both the seniors (Third Age Universities among others) and the youth and youth workers (Eurodesk). Foundation of Alternative Educational Initiatives was founded in April 2011 in Bielsko-Biała (South of Poland, Silesian Voivodship).
