The Official School of Languages Madrid-Villaverde (EOI Madrid-Villaverde) and its Extension El Espinillo is a public language school established in 1990 in the capital city of Spain, Madrid.
We have more than a thousand students (16-65 years old) including teachers, unemployed and retired people, housewives, young professionals, or university students, just to mention some.
In our institution we teach and certify language learning in English, French and German.
Our main goal is to promote lifelong language learning to strengthen the students’ professional development, communication skills and personal growth through language and culture. In addition to teaching, our School gives our students access to extracurricular activities with multicultural content.
These are some of the activities our School has been involved in:
We have actively participated in different European projects in the past, and we are nowadays developing a KA104 project on the topic “Motivation in foreign language teaching”.
We have a Language Choir (Coro de Lenguas) which integrates both our students and staff by means of collaborating in our common aim of voice improvement and language knowledge.
We promote sustainability through several actions such as digital use to save paper expenditure, photovoltaic panels to produce clean solar energy on site, energy saving projects, exhibitions on sustainability and artistic recycling.
We are deeply involved in the key area of mediation. Recently included in our CV, it marks a turning point in our methodologies by underlining the importance of learning to bridge gaps of communication in life. Learners are trained to become agents of mediation, with both “inter” and “intra” cultural, linguistic and conceptual implications.

They are active partners of DigiLab companies, business networks, industrial associations, state institutions, foundations.
The three areas are directed by Scientific Committees; to each area there is a laboratory, in which researchers, technicians, project managers, students and civil service operators work. The Digital Publishing service and coordination for training and communication courses are also active at DigiLab.
DigiLab was the coordinator of the BladEdu project and responsible for the administration. The application for this project has been written by the EBI/EIE and the EBI/EIE also has produced the project plan and was responsible for the project management.
The ”Vittorio Veneto“ Business Institute, is the oldest school, founded together with the town of Littoria (Latina) in 1932, but it officially opened in 1936. It is one of this small town’s most important cultural centres and surroundings. Information technology, business studies, law, and foreign languages are the main subjects taught in the school, together with evening classes arranged for working and migrant students.
The agricultural condition of the town, which then turned into the industrial and touristic one, started at the beginning of the 20th century because of our “Pontine Marshes” land. For this reason, many Italian people came from the North of Italy to work and live here, most of them in fact, died of “Malaria”.
Today the school still has this phenomenon with people coming from Europe, especially from Romania, Poland, Ukraine, Albania, and Africa, India and China. Once again, because of this deep migration impact, the school is the attraction pole for arranging any cultural activities or initiatives to strengthen a national and, above all, a European identity, especially among the youngest generations. In order to fulfil this aim, the school has already done European Projects such as Leonardo and Comenius.
The school was a partner in the new VTT-Box Erasmus+ project.
The official name is “Colegio Internacional Costa Adeje” because the school hosts pupils and students from approximately30 nations. The spoken language is Spanish, most of the students speak German and other European languages.
Colegio Internacional Costa Adeje School is located in Adeje, a small town situated in the south-west of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. The school is attended by around 900 students and the school staff is about 75 teachers. Two years ago, the school received
the ISO 9001 certificate.
Scope of work
There we work with students from nursery school (6 months) all the way to 2nd Bachillerato. The latter is the last year before students go to University.
Special expertise, skills, competences
During the last seven years the Colegio has let install digital boards at school in all classrooms. Since then all the teachers have been instructed in managing different e-learning methods. Moreover most of the teachers are developing e-learning materials to use with their students.
The school is also experienced in working in international teams. Eight years ago the school developed a Comenius project cooperating with all teams involved in order to achieve our objectives successfully. Furthermore, the school is defining, implementing and evaluating quality criteria focused on learners needs at the secondary education. As the school received the ISO 9001 two years ago the complete school staff is involved in quality working processes.
Cooperation in the past & future
The EBI/EIE supported the school in developing the eLearning and multimedia competences in several courses.
In the next years, the Colegio will coordinate the VTT-Box project – here the EBI/EIE is a partner impacting the special knowledge of using multimedia tools, developing distance learning tools, and the evaluation of learning outcomes.
