The University of Aveiro

The University of Aveiro (UA) is a young university, founded in 1973, with over 15000 full time students (graduate and postgraduate). The University has a strong research profile, a unique model of governance (16 Departments, 4 Polytechnic Schools and various training centres), acting as a regional network for education and training promoting strong links with the surrounding community and was a pioneer in launching degrees in new subject areas.

The BMD structure is fully implemented and learning outcomes are introduced.  Recognition of prior learning is also implemented, for those who do not have the formal entrance requirements. The University is a member of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities and was one of the first institutions to be granted the ECTS label in 2004, with this distinction having been renewed in 2009 and 2013 and the Diploma Supplement Label also awarded in 2013.

University of Aveiro

UA participates in 3 ERASMUS MUNDUS Joint Masters programmes and 2 ERASMUS MUNDUS joint doctorate programmes. UA also runs several joint doctoral programmes with other Portuguese Universities. It has also signed an agreement as one of the Portuguese institutions to participate in the programme of collaboration between Portugal and Carnegie Mellon University for the development of postgraduate programmes and research in the field of ICT (Information and Communication Technologies).

At the same time, the collaboration between the Telecommunications Institute (IT) and the Physics sector with Siemens is an example of the way in which the university has encouraged both innovation and commercialisation linked to research. It has also
provided resources for its research policy through funding and the provision of high quality researchers.

The university was a partner in the TIBL Project

EDRASE

EDRASE

Edrase (Chalki/Greece)

EDRASE LogoEDRASE is a private, not-for-profit association that works mainly with training and projects, both at national and European levels. It is conducted by a board of directors with 7 people, has 28 members and at least 9 collaborators that assist in certain activities.

EDRASE main aim is to promote Natural and Social Sciences and ICT in Greece and the EU, with the means of seminars, lectures, courses and the production of educational material. Special interest is given to e-learning and distance /blended learning.

There are no departments in EDRASE but the members that will be involved in this project have a long experience in teaching/training, both adolescents and adults, using conventional and e-learning methods.

Most of our members work in secondary education, we are involved in many environmental, and scientific projects, that have to do with Inquiry-based Learning.

We are focused mainly in distance learning because we are involved in the organization of many distance and blended learning courses, training educators of the islands of the Aegean Archipelago.

All the involved members work in the Education sector, have been organizers or educators in face-to-face or distance learning courses and have been coordinators in various successful national and international projects.

All this experience gained in all kinds of European projects (Comenius & Grundtvig/LLP, Erasmus+), will ensure the successful participation of EDRASE in the Project.

EDRASE is a special partner because has developed a great experience in training adolescents and adults using innovative methods in face-to face training & e-learning like blended learning and use of the virtual worlds. It has been a partner in relevant LLP projects, has deepened its knowledge and comprehension in organizing successful training courses and creating innovative educational material.

EBI cooperated intensively with EDRASE since 2010. The first joint project was BladEdu (a Grundtvig Multilateral project). Another successful cooperation was in the frame of the FAdE Project (Flipped Adult Education).
